This was one of the very first works I have been entrusted to do as a graphic designer. It is a small photographic booklet, square sized (20×19.5 cm), designed for a friend and former classmate at the art lyceum.
It reproduces a series of twelve black and white film photographs shot in 2009 in Berlin by Italian contemporary visual artist Simone Monsi—not yet an artist then—for whom I subsequently designed other publications as well.
The photographs were intended to be printed in opaque white and metallic silver on black matte paper. However, the original files of the book design have been lost and the only surviving documentation is made of a prototype and printing proofs.
Despite the intentional simplicity of the graphic design and that of the layout—that was conceived to enhance each image and the greyscale tones—this is a project of which I am still very proud today.
