Between 2020 and 2022 I have been giving a series of lectures to the students of the School of Visual Arts (SVA) of New York City on invitation of Professor Greg D’Onofrio, a respected graphic design scholar and an internationally known collector of modern graphic design artifacts.

This lecture focused on Italian modern graphic design produced between the 1930s and the 1960s, showing both the history and the evolution of the modern graphic design’s language from Razionalismo (Rationalism) to Ricostruzione (the Post-War Reconstruction), from Disegno Industriale (Industrial Design) to proper Modernismo (Modernism).

The design of the lecture itself was somewhat informed by the typical elements of Italian Modernism, thus producing a presentation that was visually consistent with the graphic works shown along the pages.

The lecture was appreciated by the students and stimulated an interesting discussion.
