The website of MunariDesign is the outcome of a long design process, developed over two years, which saw an in-depth web design research, a meticulous construction of the layout, the preparation of all texts and images, and the coding and web development.

The goal that guided the entire design process was the production of a website characterised by a high flexibility, at the same time obtaining pages that are pleasant to read as that of a printed book.

To achieve this aim, a responsive modular layout was developed—articulated in a rhythmic and dynamic way—which is visually airy and elegant, without having to use particular animations or sensationalist effects.

Also, it was tried to achieve a certain order in orchestrating all the elements in the pages, thus evoking the composure and precision in the layout that is typical of printed graphics.

Each project is presented with an exhaustive text illustrating its genesis, development, and realisation, accompanied by short captions which describe the details of numerous images and by a data sheet indicating clients, collaborators, and other information.

The decision to write exhaustive texts intentionally goes agains the increasing trend of placing all the emphasis on images, thus passively accepting the fact that people read less and less, which may be true but which one does not necessarily have to contribute in turn.

The texts, in this case, are a cultural tool that is offered to readers to contribute to the understanding of graphic design in general, so that it is possible to understand its value, usefulness, and professional seriousness.

The importance given to texts is also underlined by the signature at the bottom, reiterating the fact that they are not simple technical descriptions, but personal thoughts on design in the broadest sense.

The photographs showing projects have been all made in studio specifically for the publication in the website, trying to highlight both the aesthetic and functional qualities as well as the quality of materials, papers, finishes, and printing, placing a particular attention to the experimental solutions adopted from time to time.

Alongside the projects, a section of the website is dedicated to writings about design—not just graphic design—some of which have previously been published in magazines or discussed in lectures, thus emphasising the intense study, research, and cultural promotion activity that distinguishes the work carried out as a design historian and scholar.

The website has demonstrated the effectiveness and versatility of its design by becoming a reference model for the development of other websites, intended for different uses and contents. Also, the layout and structure have remained unchanged over time, adapting through an expansion conceived form the beginning to accomodate new contents.
